Alan_em. You just put your finger on something that has been bothering me about the far right for a long time. I consider conservatism to be a realistic philosophy, but these far right extremists are not realistic. Not only are those wars draining the treasury, they are ineffective in fighting the real threat of terrorism. The invasions have created more terrorists than they have eliminated. The only people who have benefitted are war profiteers.

Does anyone else notice certain contradictions in this "purity resolution"? As an independent-leaning Republican, I find this disturbing.

Policy Position #1 states "We support smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes by opposing bills like Obama’s “stimulus” bill". I agree with this position; it is essential that the United States slashes the deficit, cuts taxes, and begins to pay down the national debt.

However, one cannot support Policy Position #1 while simultaneously supporting Policy Position #6 - "We support victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military-recommended troop surges", because the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been huge contributors in exploding the national debt and the deficit. I find it disturbing that the far right espouses limited spending, but leaves military spending out of the discussion when it makes up such a large portion of the budget. I'm growing a tired of the GOP's inconsistency on this subject.

The 'Cult of Republicanism' is now cleansing it's self of the infidels that support the rights of workers, women, and the non-militarists. The trend toward a small, regional Southern party continues for the Republicans.

The far right republicans are embarrassing and frightening at the same time. Why would a party alienate so many people intentionally? This system of government that we have is wonderful, though not perfect, but it is constructed to INCLUDE everyones voice. Why exclude so many and then have the gall to expect them to vote for you?

How sad that the GOP is still being hijacked by the far right "religious" extremists, who would mandate that a woman has no right to her own body even if it means her death. They don't want a political party, they want a theocracy.

The great party of Lincoln and my forefathers is on its last gasps if this assault on women continues. The party is forcing moderate Republicans to vote Democrat.
And lest they forget, 1/3 of Colorado's voters are independent and probably half of those are women.
And it will be a cold day in hell before any of us will live under a theocracy.
