So disillusioning. I've always hung on to my Xcel stock out of nostalgia for the old Northern States Power company, but it looks like Xcel has become just another herd of hogs pushing their way to the expense-account trough. Time to sell.

No, I'm only saying that if their goal is to make up $180 million, this wasteful spending of $120,000 is just a tiny drop in the bucket. what is needed is to understand why they need that huge $180 million increase. Don't get so tangled up in outrage over the little stuff that you ignore the real problems.

Are you attempting to minimize this use of money? What would you say if it was the governor's office? I don't understand this right wing bs that it is ok for corporations to rip off the public, but God-forbid the taxpayers should kick in for education, healthcare, bank regulation, etc,. Seriously, our perspectives and priorities are really warped, if this is not a problem.

While it would be hard to defend spending $120,000 on these unnecessarily luxurious retreats, spread over 1.3 million customers it amounts to less than $.10 per customer. It will require a lot more expense cutting to cover that rate increase.

> $41,890 bill for a board retreat at the plush St. Julien Hotel and Spa in Boulder… $15,211 bill at Frasca restaurant in Boulder

I feel highly confident in saying that if ratepayers had known about these events, there would have been a lot of angry protesters and signs outside.
