Obama said Wright was like family to him… McCain doesn't enjoy quite the same close relationship with Hagee. That said, Obama clearly doesn't embrace Wright's racist views, and appears to be one of the rare people capable of bridging this divide.

Aw, you ruined it. I would have bet a decent sum of money that "Wildflower" would agree with that statement as written, given past statements (see, above and in other topics) and the displayed hatred of Christians. You should have let him/her answer for themself.

And what it has to do with is just that - the hatred displayed by some over matters religious or religious-connected. Now what that has to do with Obama's love for high speed rail, I don't know - but I wasn't the one who brought it up here, now was I?

Wright, Hagee, and I70 Wouldn't it be wonderful if people like Wright and Hagee did not insert themselves into the public forum at all!

But they will, and they will influence a select amount of voters.

Re the clip, if God sent Katrina to New Orleans to punish homosexuals, etal, why did God also punish the elderly and frail, the children and diabetics?

And why didn't God send the wind and the rain on up to the Springs to zap the Rev. Ted?

I suppose Pat Robertson's old prediction about God punishing Florida's gays will come to pass eventually too, when global warming swamps the state. I'm sure he won't be around by then to say "I told you so" though.

Re I70 FAST light rail would be ideal for skiers but I don't foresee us having the money for that in the near future. I do see a lot of trucks and of course they're a LOT harder on the roads than the cars, so future fees for them might be a start for a solution, although I feel sorry for those guys with the cost of fuel now. Chaining them up was a good start too.

Personally, I prefer to sail down I70 in my own American made 30 mpg vehicle in the non-icy months to points west or south. So the train would be of no use to me, but I do see the need to do something because Colorado needs the $ the ski industry brings.

Interesting that John McCain has not been called to account for Pastor Hagee's controversial statements vilifying Catholics or blaming gays and lesbians for Hurricane Katrina, huh?

McCain: "When [Hagee] endorses me it does not mean that I embrace everything that he stands for and believes in."

So why is there a double standard with respect to Barack Obama and Rev. Wright?

How many degrees of separation are required by American voters between political candidates and people, like Wright and Hagee, who insert themselves into the public forum?

FWIW There is passenger rail from Denver to Grand Junction along I-70 more or less, and, in season, even a dedicated ski train service.

High speed rail would be an improvement on current service, but ordinary low speed rail would be redundant.
