Union Group Holds National Video Contest

The AFL-CIO is calling for Denver filmmakers to participate in the organization’s first online video competition called “Turn Around America.”

Winners will be selected in Denver and in more than a dozen other cities across the nation.Participants in the public contest can submit videos on the Web to answer the question of “What’s wrong with America, what changes would you like to see and how do we turn it around?”

The competition prohibits films that mention specific political figures or businesses, but submissions are meant to influence the positions of candidates running in 2008.

According to the AFL-CIO, the Denver winner will win $1,000 and the video may be featured as a television ad.

The contest runs from Apr. 10 through May 20, and winners are expected to be announced no later than June 10.
