It’s been a great three year run but it’s time to turn a new chapter.
I recently accepted a news entrepreneur fellowship with the Knight Digital Media Center in partnership with the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at USC’s Marshall School of Business, the Center on Communication Leadership and Policy at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and USC Annenberg’s Online Journalism Review to examine sustainable online news and public information endeavors.
Beginning July 1, John Tomasic will step in as interim managing editor backed by the immensely talented David O. Williams and Ernest Luning.
Many thanks to those of you who have followed our trajectory from the oddball new kid on the news block with the funny name to an award-winning and widely respected site for state political journalism and investigative reporting.
My abiding respect, too, to all of the Colorado Independent reporters with whom I have had the great privilege of working with over the last three years. You’ve made such an incredible difference in this little patch of the world. I am humbled to have had the opportunity to storm the gates with each of you through public interest lawsuits, DNC tear gas and endlessly entertaining hate mail written with broken caps locks and malfunctioning spell checkers.
Good night and good luck.
