Maybe the Justice Department should have an accounting of the billion dollars they received to eliminate the backlog. Let's see now, who was president in 2003?
I think our Colorado legislators made a huge mistake with SB 241… to assume someone is guilty before trial ( by taking the DNA) is a violation of the Constitution.
If they can't get to backlogged cases, what assurance is there that they will get around to destroying the DNA of the person found not guilty?
Do we trust our police departments to not suddenly “find” evidence after taking the DNA of someone in the vicinity of a crime? Do we trust them not to take the DNA to “solve” another case?
I don't.
