I cannot support SB 170 in a climate where the state is cutting or eliminating over $1 billion of benefits to the people and is facing a $300 million cut to higher education, which virtually ends higher education as we know it in the State of Colorado.

The plight of children who have done nothing wrong nor know no other country as home is a real one but would not be solved by this bill because under current federal law they remain at risk for deportation and have no lawful path to employment. Federal immigration reform is desperately needed to bring a real solution to this and many other problems. The process for legal immigration in this country is broken and needs to be fixed.

Senator's carroll's vote was the correct vote, but not for the reasons she stated. SB-170 wasn't about undocumented high school graduates, it was totally a stimulous bill for higher education. Wake up, look at the lobiest registered on this bill, almost all WORKING for institutions of higher education.
The battle that needs all of your focus,is the dream act , at the federal level! Without citizenship, all normal doors are still closed and locked in Colorado! Look up the Colorado democratic party, all of the names, phone contact information,e-mail addresses are posted.
Stop pissing and moaning about the Colorado vote, It means nothing!

It was difficult to listen to Morgan in the interview because Mario kept talking over Morgan.
I've had much experience with college tuition, and even if the kids get the in-state tuition rate it's not nearly enough. Books are very expensive, room and board, laptops, so many things they need to successfully complete the college experience. Since these kids are not legal citizens, they can't work part of full time and they can't get college loans or grants.
And if their parents can't help them, how will they succeed in college?
Giving them in-state tuition is like throwing a few crumbs in their direction.

Instead of divisive laws, why not REALLY help the deserving kids and line them up with corporate sponsors in this state? Tax-deductible for the sponsors of course.
Also, how about asking Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world, to be a sponsor? I'm sure he could afford to sponsor many of them.

Point taken Redstate, but in my eyes a politician is as good as their last vote. This is not a dress rehersal, peoples lives have been change because of the "Dream Killer 5". The way she defended her vote on SB170, does not hold water, I'm just wondering if there was more politics behind the politics, this doesn't past the smell test with me and a lot of people. And as far as the host being rude, I think not, It was good to finally hear someone in the media talk open, honest and direct to a decision maker that the people hired... that's right, her constituents hire her and the Senator let them down. Senator Carroll's vote hits close to home with 99% of the people that put her in office. I think we should send a loud message to our leaders Democratic and Republican that they have to be accountable to the people that put them in office or the people will take them out of office.
AM
