My sense of the proposed reform plan is that the cost savings realized by the comparative effectiveness strategy will free up money to help expand insurance coverage.

Keep in mind that the rationing argument is a red herring. The private health insurance industry already withholds high quality medical care by reimbursement cost structuring that acts as a disincentive for certain types of treatments, requiring patients to jump through multiple pre-approval hoops, collusion with the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, among other tactics.

I hope the legislators remember that the idea is NOT to take away health benefits or cut the quality, of people who DO have health care and insurance such as seniors on Medicare.
I thought the idea was to make health insurance/health care available to those who do not have any.
And to make it available to all who need it at a reasonable cost..
Taking away from Peter to pay Paul would not be a good solution.

And I do agree that a doctor should be able to determine what is best for his patient, not someone in an office a thousand miles away. One size does NOT fit all.
