In general, affected species have possible responses to global climate change, which can best be summed up as change, move, or die.

I live in Oakville, close to Toronto, and in the past few years I've seen robins almost every day in the winter. I'm looking at one right now and we have had snow covered ground for about 2 weeks being late January.
Temp have been colder then normal here these past 2 weeks, yet the Robins stay. It's a treat to see them stay, but I agree the weather is changing

We seem to be hearing this more and more often now. Is there a way of stopping this from happening?

I also live in Toronto and some robins are definitely staying for the winter. They have been doing this for at least two or three years. In the middle of winter there are hundreds of them in Sunnybrook Park. Check out the bushes on the north side of the sports fields and you will find them. This NEVER used to happen.
