Thanks for the response: wise words, for sure. I'm glad that you're going to help. I live in St. Louis, so I'm not sure how much I can help besides donating money, and I'll surely do that.

I hope that EVERYBODY buys into it. It's the right thing to do. I wish Stu the very best. And I'll help him in any way I can. I hope that you do too, Ben. Japanese proverb: None of us is as smart as all of us. Stu's effort could really take off, and he's getting started early. Hope that he gets a website up soon.

Why wouldn't they buy into it? Sometimes it's good to buy into an idea, even if you know most people reject it. At the best, it might convince some people, and maybe even some lawmakers. At the worst, it would be rejected by most people and lawmakers, which most people would expect. If it happened to get on the ballot, and was rejected, would it really be a blow to same-sex marriage? It's already illegal and unconstitutional. Personally, I think the passion this guy shows is inspiring and worth our admiration.

Regardless of the outcome, it's good that gay-friendly folks are adopting the grassroots approach on things like this. Although I think it's unlikely to see how something like this could pass in Colorado, anything is possible!

Regardless of what you think about ballot initiatives, social conservatives have been using grassroots ballot initiatives for decades now, and it's about time we more liberal folks do the same. Coloradans decisively rejected the so-called personhood amendment, and barely rejected civil unions, in a moderate to moderate-conservative state, at that! If we social liberals play our cards right, we could score major civil rights victories in many states. We're at the cusp of winning civil unions at the ballot box, and it would be great to see more initiatives in this direction. Keep up the great work, so we can show social conservatives that our country is moving forward, one vote, and one state, at a time!

Stu Allen's proposal will never fly. Too grassroots. Doesn't have the buy-in of the gay community in Denver. And, you know how important THAT is ....
