The board should be accountable expecially after they gave Carly such an unacceptible amount of money for blundering our stock value. With HP laying off such a large head count of employees, Mark should not have accepted such a large bonus. Carly your statement is solid, I give you that, but you cared little for the employees while CEO as well. These large bonus' make CEO's greedy, and greed cause non caring attitudes for employees. CEO's come up with ways to line their pockets every time they cut out the work force. More money in the pot add to larger bonus'. The bonus could have saved many job's within HP....

Interesting compelling insight from someone who was, literally, paid FORTY-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS TO LEAVE her last job. Typical out of touch nonsense, coming from someone who nearly ran one of the largest technology companies in history straight into the ground. HP improved dramatically after this market-compensated 'expert' was shown the door--if you think I'm wrong, Google it. Now she is helping us to understand that 'the markets' should be left to decide CEO compensation--well Ms. Fiorina, AHEM!--the markets HAVE dictated CEO salaries you ninny! These are people begging for their companies lives, right--am I missing something??!! 'The markets' will dictate the rules during normal periods, granted, however you are fighting for seats in A LIFERAFT, sweetheart--your 'market' fails to support your 'logic'! Your colleagues (who failed only slightly more that you did), responded to their 'desperately needed' government handouts by taking their families away on private jets paid for by us vis a vis their own incompetence. <br>Carly--you do not 'school our President' in any regard. You are a looser, if you weren't you would now be employed, begging for free money to misuse, just like your ridiculous cavalcade of clueless contemporaries.

Carly doesn't understand this isn't about fixing executive compensation, it's about fixing a political problem. I doubt the politicians care if the execs make 50 million in extended perks, so long as the average tax payer thinks their salary is cut. After all look at the presidents salary. Is Air Force One included in that? The politicians desperately want these firms to recover and don't care how the exec's pull it off. The politicians however do not want to be viewed as conspiring to raid the tax payers wallets at the same time so many are being foreclosed on and evicted. We will go to bad to worse as the economy starts digesting the massive layoff's. From a basic level this all started because Bush didn't withdraw from Iraq as promised, and the Arabs drove the price of oil through the roof. This crushed the average Joe driving his Expedition to work each day. We need to save the banks, but the banks can not grow the economy. Investing in lowering the cost of energy and lowering the cost of infrastructure is what will grow this economy. We built a super highway system for our nations defense. How about a internet super highway which the poor can get on for free. How about investing in taking the cost out of solar, wind and tidal power devices, the way we've taken the cost out of the average x86 processor. While the US may have been devastated by higher energy costs, outside the G8, the poor countries have been decimated by the cost of rising energy. Let's help them, as we help ourselves by driving down the cost of solar power, etc.
