At least we would have thrown the bidding into contention and perhaps into the arms of the new administration. As it is, the Roan Plateau leases were a giveaway to the oil and gas bidders -- an average of $300 a year per acre for the next 20 years. That's pocket change! I wish we (Rifle residents, the conservation community, or even myself) would have thought about bidding on the Roan Plateau leases.
