Raising the gas tax will not relive us with the problem. It will cost more problem. If you increase gas tax, dealers will increase gas price. But on the positive side, people will likely not to drive their cars which will be healthy for them and the environment.

we've not hit the bottom yet ... the future is bright and things will recover, but we must prepare ourselves for a little more turmoil yet. Don't forget the economy is cyclic, but this one hasn't got a close similar event. Gas prices have reduced again and will have to keep pace with the cash crisis downturn.

I would not direct them anywhere as it makes no difference.
Money is fungible and the legislature will do what it does.

No “relief”. The idea is that a gradual increase gives people time to plan and prepare.

Dave, where would you direct those extra funds in the state budget? Transportation? Renewable energy development? Something else?

Would you provide any relief for independent truckers, taxi drivers or workers whose livelihoods are directly affected by a spike in gas prices?

I have been arguing for years that the State of Colorado should increase the gas tax by 1 cent per month for 4+ years.
But, I am just an ordinary guy.
