Living in the fryin' pan Having lived in CS my whole life, i'm continually amazed at the comments I hear from evangelicals- even close friends. Have they REALLY read their bibles? I sometimes think that religion is nothing but a propaganda tool to program unimaginative people. This of course is an over-simplification of religious history and its deeper meaning in the human condition, but looking at true cultists like Dobson does make one think twice before setting foot in church. Where is Joseph Campbell when you need him?

Even Gingrich Even Focus on the Family approved candidate Gingrich is calling for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to go.

You can't go much further in losing support from your base (he already had none from the opposition) than that.

It is not just the thin ranks of RINOs that have lost their taste for one of the key architects of the administration's torture policy who lied to Congress about why he fired U.S. attorneys.

connecting some dots It seems to me that Focus has had more than its share of PR problems since one of its long-time spokesmen resigned last year under mysterious circumstances, i.e., an abrupt announcement by a man in his late 50s/early 60s with no immediate job plans.

I'm blanking on the fellow's name but it was about the same time that the Haggard-Jones scandal was becoming public.

It's not uncommon - look at Enron, Global Crossing, or the White House for evidence - when a group of people become so isolated from reality that anyone not toeing the corporate, er... multi-million dollar nonprofit ministry line gets thrown overboard while the like-minded leadership cling to one another simply to validate their similarly narrow world views.
