We are a country of diversity after all. Observing different traditions is fun and is where we as a country of tolerant people should be.<br>As a child we had a very religious aunt-in-law who thought Santa didn't belong in Christmas and lamented the commercialization of a religious holiday.<br>But our grandmother loved Christmas and we loved hearing of her stockings stuffed with fruit and nuts when she was a child, and listened to the tales of her ancestors of Dutch origin and treats in the wooden shoes. We hung our stockings and waited in delightful anticipation of Santa.<br><br>I know an atheist who loves hanging lights and buying Christmas gifts. Christmas is a holiday of different meanings to different people. Everyone likes having the day off from work, no matter what the religion or if they have no religion at all. It is a winter holiday to brighten the long winter, be with family if you choose, and show kindness to others who are less fortunate.<br>In summation, "Christmas" can be anything you want and it can be called anything you want.<br>As for me, I will be up bright and early on Christmas Day so I can see what Santa slipped under the tree!
