Update: 2/5/2014 at 7:28 P.m.: PROTIP – For a threat to be credible, you have to threaten to do something you aren’t expected to do anyway. For example, threatening to derail immigration reform unless the deportations continue isn’t credible when immigration reform already appears to be derailed this year.
Update: 2/4/2014 at 2:55 P.M.: (a) It used to be that being a conservative meant you supported free markets and opposed government telling companies how to run their businesses. Maybe it still does, but rule number one of immigration policy is that the “threat” of immigrants will make people contradict their core values on a regular basis. (b) PSA for Laura Ingraham – Puerto Ricans are U.S. Citizens.

The modern “conservative” movement’s opposition to immigration is based on a lack of faith in the appeal of its message.
