I think the reason some of the amendments failed (or passed) because people just didn't read the Blue Book and didn't know how to vote, so just arbitrarily picked Yes or No. I also think that there probably were a lot of ballots that contained no votes on the amendments, due to the fact that people won't bother to vote if they don't know whether a YES or NO vote represents their opinion.

I read the Blue Book and used the attached "cheat sheet" to place my votes. Still, it was obvious to me that the wording of the amendments could be very confusing. In some cases, it was confusing that a YES vote would defeat the amendment, or a NO vote would pass the amendment. These things should be written in plain language, so the average person can understand the terms.

Our state has been highjacked by people who don't understand the principles on which this country was founded. So 47 didn't pass, and we have both a black President and head of the State Legislature yet the majority believes we still need Affirmative Action Laws? This must be be the same majority who wrongly believe the current state of the economy was either the Bush or Republican's fault rather than the Democrats who started the "everyone is entitled to home ownership" policies under Clinton. A democracy must have an educated electorate or it will fail, which is what is happening as we slide down the slippery slope of socialism.

I did do some research and I do stand by how I voted. I don't take offense by your comment, because I feel I voted how I wanted, but it took me longer to figure it out than I thought it would, and I attribute that to the language. My point was that it seems as if the ballot language was confusing ON PURPOSE.

Through commercials, internet sites, TV shows & newspaper articles, I felt pretty ready to cast my vote. I just thought it could have been written clearly.

Hmm...Shouldn't this be a lesson to us all not to listen to those darn TV adds. I'm pretty sure that's why so many people voted for Obama...they listened to the tv adds and not to the actual facts.

I went online and researched anything that I was confused about. I'm sorry to hear that Mark is just an alarmist. No one abstains from commiting a sex crime because of the much more minor crime of going into an opposite sex's bathroom. Let's get real here. Besides, just because something is legal, doesn't mean that social pressures will just melt overnight.

@Mark and Charlie
I don't want to sound elitist by any means, but if you didn't research the Amendements before hand you should have abstained rather than vote on them. Do your research or you risk causing more harm than good.
