I agree, though, that there appeared to be wide variance in the poll workers' knowledge of the rules.

To wit, Naomi's story on a newly registered voter who was purged from the rolls because of the infamous check box snafu. At the poll, he was instructed by an ill-informed elections worker to cast a provisional ballot when simply presenting an approved form of ID would have cured his registration allowing him to vote on a regular ballot.

The worker who refused the util. bill was rather miffed and never said another word after being overruled.
