I used a utility bill as proof of residency and breezed right through the early vote check-in.

I agree, though, that there appeared to be wide variance in the poll workers' knowledge of the rules.

To wit, Naomi's story on a newly registered voter who was purged from the rolls because of the infamous check box snafu. At the poll, he was instructed by an ill-informed elections worker to cast a provisional ballot when simply presenting an approved form of ID would have cured his registration allowing him to vote on a regular ballot.

Note to Denver Election Commission, if the poll workers aren't versed in what is an acceptable i.d. to vote, perhaps they should keep a list on hand so they can check it out before just refusing someone.

I did hear of one person who has been duly registered and voting for years presenting a utility bill for i.d.and being refused by one of the poll workers who didn't think it was an acceptable i.d. form.
The other two workers overruled the refuser and said it WAS acceptable. The worker who refused the util. bill was rather miffed and never said another word after being overruled. Evidently this voter often presents a utility bill instead of pic. i.d. to "test" the system. ( or show the laxity thereof)?
I checked the list and it IS acceptable.to present a utility bill for i.d.
