		<description>&lt;strong&gt;The irony of this appointment&lt;/strong&gt; is that Tom will replace Drew Bolin in this office. In 1998, Tom defeated his GOP opponent by 194 votes. That opponent? Drew Bolin (who at one point published some Photoshopped picture of Tom to try to make him look like a hippie - this amused Tom since in addition to the appearance of an earring, hair had been added to his pic).&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Tom will be great in this office - just as he was a great state rep. And he joins some other really respected Boulder folk, former state Rep. Todd Saliman (Tom&#039;s predecessor on the JBC) and former U.S. Rep. David Skaggs.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

		<description>&lt;strong&gt;I&#039;d have to agree&lt;/strong&gt; I only met Plant once, when he was trying to explain the budget after Referendum C was passed. It basically ended with me nodding my head and feigning that I had some bleak understanding of what he was talking about. I&#039;ve never been very good at math!</description>
