I do have to say though that I did appreciate that some of the panelists publicly recognized the contribution that blogs have to offer in political news coverage and analysis.

For others, it seems we're too much of a threat which is unfortunate because there's plenty of room for all our voices — at least those of us who acknowledge our ideological perspectives and refrain from posing as neutral conveyers of information.

There is no neutral. Never was. Never will be.

What I found ridiculous was Temple's suggestion that the RMN should have done more on the “agricultural trespass” story, because it was an important issue.  Well, if it is an important issue, what's stopping them from pursuing the story now?  Is it that it was an “important issue” only because the Beauprez people wanted to use it to smear Ritter as a Mexican lover, and now that the election is over it's not an important issue?

My other big observation is that when you put the media and political types up on a stage together, they all seem to reinforce to each other the idea that the media either has a liberal bias or is neutral.  I would have liked someone (maybe you, Wendy) who could have actually advocated the critique that the media is vulnerable to conservative misinformation  (which is of course the raison d'etre of CMM).
